NBAQ aims to improve the level of programs of higher education institutions in the State of Kuwait and identify higher education institutions
in other countries which its degrees are allowed to be equivalised, through continuous evaluation processes for these institutions
and their programs in accordance with the standards of international accreditation bodies in order to control the quality of education.
- Institutional accreditation: relates to all sectors and units of the educational institution and the general level of academic programs, and is carried out by a central national body.
- Program accreditation: relates to specific scientific programs and depends on a detailed, comprehensive assay of the elements of the specialized program, and is carried out by specialized societies and bodies.
They are universities that meet the standards of NBAQ, which students are allowed to enroll to study undergraduate and postgraduate programs outside the State of Kuwait.
When determining Institutions of Higher Education outside the state of Kuwait, the following Criteria should be taken into account:
- The institution must acquire an institutional academic accreditation from one of the recognized academic accreditation authorities in the country in which the institution’s headquarters’ is located.
- The Academic programs of the institution must gain academic program accreditation by an academic program accreditation agency recognized by the National Bureau for Academic Accreditation and Education Quality Assurance.
- The level of specialized programs offered by the university must be distinct in regard to the lists of international rankings as per international lists recognized by the National Bureau for Academic Accreditation and Education Quality Assurance.
- The university must have admission and transfer policies that are posted and applied to all students.
- The university must follow a regular attendance system during school week.
- Reports of field visits to universities by academic delegations.
- Reports of cultural offices related to universities.
- Information provided by the National Bureau for Academic Accreditation and Education Quality Assurance.
- Receive the request to add the program to the lists of universities recommended by NBAQ by an official authority.
- Study the application by NBAQ and applying the standards applied to the program.
- Submit the topic to the relevant committees of NBAQ to issue the recommendation.
- Issuing a ministerial decree on the program.
Conditions stipulated in the ministerial decision for each country separately, taking into account the decisions regulating enrollment and the system of study in educational institutions outside the State of Kuwait.
